METROPOLIS, Ill. — Adhering to controversy at the March 25 Metropolis City Council meeting, a concerned citizen sat down with Metropolis Mayor Don Canada on Monday to address some of her unanswered inquiries.

Sumar Holt initially voiced her worries about missing house paid out for by tax pounds at the city council assembly, but was suggested by Canada to make an appointment with him to focus on the subject matter.

Canada encouraged citizens to carry their worries to him at his business.




In a statement published by Metropolis World, Canada claimed: “If any one has any thoughts, be sure to sense free to come and discuss to me …I’ve been blown up a lot on Fb, but at least come in and talk to me and give me an possibility. Tonight’s the first time anybody in this room’s come and requested why we do or really do not do issues. We recognize everybody’s feelings, inquiries, and solutions."

Canada created this statement in reaction to 18 citizens showing up for community comment at the March 25 city council meeting.

Holt introduced up her considerations to Canada on Monday about a set of tables and chairs, acquired with taxpayer pounds, that went lacking from the Metropolis Public Library about two and a fifty percent yrs back.

According to Tony Morris, he acquired the home furniture from a Metropolis Public Library Facebook article, advertising and marketing the tables and chairs.




The household furniture has given that been found at The Refuge Church in Metropolis. The Refuge Church Pastor Tony Morris said he obtained the tables a couple of yrs in the past when the Metropolis General public Library advertised them in a Fb put up. Morris reported previous library director Rosemary Baxter and other library workforce gave him the home furniture following he replied to the Fb post.

In accordance to Holt, the town applied about $3,500 of tax money to buy the home furniture at an auction.

Holt claimed Canada has no recollection of the tables and chairs and does not remember putting out a bid or voting on their sale.

Metropolis Public Library Interim Director Colby Kennedy confirmed the antique tables and chairs had been no lengthier at the library. He reported the library board would have experienced to approve the home furniture sale, but he won't be able to come across a record of the sale from past board meetings.

Involved citizen Sumar Holt was not able to get answers from Canada to her inquiries about the furnishings.




Holt hoped the conference with Canada would prompt the metropolis to maintain the individual who gave the furnishings away accountable.

"They had been identified. They are at a area church … I really don't want them eliminated from that church, but the persons that did give them to them, I consider they should really be held accountable," Holt stated.
